“I looked at it more from the point of view, as a political issue driven by the Texas Legislature, more so than something that UT was 100% responsible for. I knew that UT was not going to be a welcoming place initially. But I thought that, on balance, a lot of the problems that I read about that were going on at UT were things that the legislature was the root cause of, rather than UT itself, even though they certainly shared some of that blame.”
